Sales/Shed Manager for 2018 field season (POSITION FILLED)
We are seeking a cheerful and organized individual to manage our flower sales and packing shed. You will manage all aspects of the Packing Shed, including the work space/flow, and the processing of flowers from the cooler to the customer, while maintaining good communication and feedback with the owners and field manager. You must be able to maintain customer relations, establish new customer accounts and most importantly, sell flowers!
Computer skills necessary— working knowledge of QuickBooks (we can train you) and Excel programs, various social media and Mail Chimp. Good communication skills essential. Previous farm sales/market management experience ideal.
Have working knowledge of crops grown (we can train you on this!)
Manage/track flower inventory in cooler
• Prepare and pack flowers for shipping.
• Interact with customers by phone and email.
• Receive payments, charge credit cards using Square
• Create availability list and send out weekly by email/MailChimp
• Oversee quality control, bunching and boxing
• Arrange for shipping with FedEx
• Tour the fields to keep informed of next crop available for sale
Fill out work week by doing fieldwork [optional]
Crew Leader for 2018 field season (POSITION FILLED)
Are you a hard worker? Do you like working with people? We are a family-run, wholesale cut flower farm in Central Vermont seeking an experienced crew leader to work alongside and direct the field crew in daily tasks during our field season.
Good communication and leadership skills are essential. Some farm work experience and people management required. Previous cut flower/horticulture knowledge and experience strongly preferred. Heavy machine (tractor, skidsteer) operation helpful.
Seasonal, full-time position, May through October. In June, peony season requires three weeks of work at up to 60 hours/wk.
Starting pay depends on experience, and crew leader has the potential to grow into a field manager position.
Full and Part time Field Crew for 2018
We are seeking an amazing team of field workers for our 2018 season. The ideal applicant would be energetic, able to work well with a crew and independently, and have excellent quality control while working quickly and efficiently. Previous farm experience a huge plus. Must be trustworthy, reliable and responsible, and be motivated to grow and harvest beautiful flowers!
Duties include all aspects of flower production, including harvesting crops, bunching flowers, digging, planting and weeding, mulching, mowing and pruning. Other work inside the packing shed includes washing buckets, making boxes and preparing flowers to be shipped.
Reliable transportation required. Please note: we are a smoke-free farm. Seasonal work from May-October, with short term positions (June peony harvest) also available (see below).
Super Shed/Field Dynamo 2018 (POSITION FILLED)
We are looking for someone to help pack and ship fresh-cut and naturally grown flowers this summer season.
The Ideal candidate would be someone who can pay close attention to detail and maintain a high standard of quality in a fast paced environment.
Must be able to lift 40lbs+ and be on your feet for long periods of time. This job is physical. Think “commercial kitchen” but with flowers instead of food and no Gordon Ramsay yelling at you.
A positive attitude and a good sense of humor are absolutely required!
The packing shed position runs from mid-May until the beginning of July, with the option of transitioning to the field crew to finish out the growing season. The position is scheduled Monday-Thursday 8am-4pm. Farm is located in Roxbury.
Pay to be determined by experience.
Short-term Flower Pickers Needed 2018
Interested in doing the glorious work of picking flowers? We need short-term workers for our June peony season. You basically pick flowers all day long on a beautiful farm. (Rain or shine, so have good rain gear and a positive attitude!) Full time only, for about 3-5 weeks. Flexible hours, including weekends.
Half-Day Farmers Wanted 2018
Currently hiring for our special attack force “weeder crew”which includes hand weeding, hoeing, lopping, bucket washing, box making and other deeply enjoyable mindless tasks. Hours are 830am-1230pm 3 days/week. Must be able to lift 40lbs, distinguish between “weeds” and “crops”, and move quickly and steadily doing repetitive tasks. A fun and social workplace, with plenty of time in the afternoon to still go swimming. Pay comes in money, sunshine (and rain), company and a few flowers. This is an excellent fit for first-time job seekers, stay-home parents with kids in summer camps, folks with night time indoor jobs (bartenders, we see you!), self-employed people who need a social break, and philosophers who need a steady focused task to do with their hands while they ponder the meaning of life!
Mechanically Inclined, Part-time Farm Worker Needed 2018
We are seeking a part time worker (8-16hrs/week) to be responsible for machine maintenance and operation on our farm. Skid steer, tractor, brush-hogging and field mowing, possible chainsaw work. Experience with some or all of the above preferred. Must enjoy working on machines and with machines! References required. Flexible hours.
Late season (August-October) FT and PT Field Workers 2018
Are you interested in cut flower farming? Do you want to work in a gorgeous setting in Central Vermont? We have the job for you!
We are a family operated cut flower farm in Roxbury Vermont and are seeking late-season field crew for our digging/dividing season August 15-October 15. We have some crops to harvest during that time, but work will largely center around digging and dividing perennials for sale and propagation on the farm. The ideal applicant would be interested in sustainable agriculture, energetic, able to work well with a crew and independently, and have excellent quality control while working quickly and efficiently.
